Dear RSU 29 Families and Community,
On Tuesday 3/11, around 8:30pm, RSU 29 began an investigation of an “alleged weapon” being placed in a location at the Southside School. Immediately, an investigation was initiated with the assistance of the Houlton Police Department and found the report was false. Out of an abundance of caution and to support our students and staff, we had Houlton Police members at each building Wednesday morning. RSU 29 and HPD will take all threats and reports of violence in our schools seriously and investigate thoroughly. We also will not tolerate false reporting which takes up a lot of time and valuable resources. We can assure you that RSU 29 is safe and appreciate all the support from the Houlton Police Department.
All RSU 29 schools are closed today, Friday, March 7th due to the impending weather.

Qualifications: Valid Maine DOE teaching certification with proper endorsement,
282, 030 or 035 required.
Gifted and Talented Teacher - Grade 4-8
Qualifications: Valid Maine DOE teaching certification endorsement 690
7-12 ELA Teacher - Houlton Middle High School
Qualifications: Valid Maine DOE teaching certification with proper endorsement, 100S
Pk-2 Building Principal - Houlton Elementary School
Qualifications: Master's degree in educational leadership or related field. Valid Maine
administrative certification. 3-5 years of experience as a classroom teacher or school
administrator, preferably at the elementary level.
Registrar and Data Coordinator -
Qualification: Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in related field, CRHC
Administrative Assistant to Superintendent of Schools
Qualifications: Valid Maine DOE CHRC, minimum high school diploma, associate degree

Dear RSU 29 School Community,
I wanted to let our RSU 29 Community know about a rumored threat incident at HMHS which occurred on Monday 3/3. Just prior to 12:00pm a handful of students at HMHS reported they heard that a threat was going to be carried out at HMHS around 12:20pm. Administration began an investigation right away and found that there was no substantiated evidence or validated claims of an actual threat. Houlton Police were called in immediately to be supportive of staff and students during this time. Law enforcement also checked on Houlton Elementary School and Southside School.
RSU 29 facilities were not in any danger. We appreciate the students who came forward to let us know of their concerns and thank the Houlton Police Department and US Border Patrol for their efforts to be present during this time. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
